Wilfred (Bill) Ervin Leitz, age 84, Medford, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016. Bill was born October 29, 1931 in Plummer, ID: the son of the late Henry and Ilda Leitz. In 1950 he joined the US Air Force and served our country honorably for the next 20 years; stationed in Texas, Wyoming, Nebraska, England, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Hawaii. After retiring from the military, Bill started a second career in law enforcement, working for the Phoenix, AZ Police Department and then the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, until retiring again in 1990. Never one to sit around with nothing to do, Bill got a part-time job at the Rogue Valley Manor and then another at Valley Web Printing, until retiring for good in 2004.
Survivors include daughters; Karen Babiasz of Atlanta, GA; Lisa Wilcox (Bruce) of Medford; Teri Stevenson (Charlie) of Panguitch, UT; Jeannie Leitz and Nancy Leitz of Medford, OR; two brothers, Dee and Robin Leitz; 13 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Beatrice James, his brother; John 'Jack" Leitz and sister, Welda Cross.
Family suggest donations in his memory be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Disabled American Veterans.
