Sharon Kathleen (Grow) Ramey was born August 17, 1937 in Fresno, CA and died May 13, 2014 in Applegate Valley, OR after struggling with a neuro-degenerative disease for almost 2 years. The funeral service will be held at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford, OR May 19 at 11 a.m.
Sharon committed her life to the Lord in 1948. In 1952, she married Wayne Ramey, who was home on leave. Their honeymoon was spent driving cross country to Camp Pickett, Virginia where they settled into Army life.
David, their son, was born in Virginia. Upon being discharged, they moved back to California where Kathleen, Diana, and Sherlene were born. They lived in Verdi, NV for ten years before moving to Springfield, OR in 1968 where they resided until Wayne retired. They adopted Cari in 1972their fourth daughter. In 1989 they moved to Applegate Valley where their retirement years have been spent. Wayne and Sharon's 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated in Hawaii with many family members.
Sharon was a mother to everyone. She was one of those rare persons who truly make a house a home. She welcomed friends and family and opened her house and heart to lively and sometimes unruly teenagers. Sharon was a compassionate nurturer with a ready smile and encouraging word.
She enjoyed stamping and making cards which she then sent to friends far and wide on special occasions or just to say, "Thinking of you." Many, many kitchens are adorned with the hand towels she crocheted and gave away. Sharon also loved cross stitch until the arthritis in her hands prevented her from performing the intricate stitches. Her home is a shrine of pictures sent to them from family and friends.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Wayne, a son Dave and his wife Sandra, four daughters: Kathleen
Veritas, Cari Unruh and her husband Dave, Diana Clark and her husband Mel, and Sherlene Eicher and her husband Kevin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Les & Phyllis Grow; an infant son, Duane; and both brothers, Tom Grow and Bruce Grow. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of wonderful friends.
