Mark Benson

Mark William Byron Benson, Born June 13th, 1957, in Gilroy, CA passed away on July 31st, 2025. He was the beloved son of Dean and Judy Benson.

Mark graduated from Medford High School in 1975 and from SOC, now known as SOU, in 1979. He began working at Weeks and Orr Furniture when he was 16, delivering and assembling furniture, later becoming the number one sales associate when it became Winans. Due to failing eyesight, he retired from selling furniture after nearly 35 years. He found a new passion in 2008 when he began a second career as a teaching assistant at Jefferson Elementary School. He loved helping the kids learn and grow so much that he continued to volunteer there even after officialy retiring in 2024.

Mark was a paragon of kindness and compassion  to his family, friends, and colleagues. He is survived by his son Aaron Benson, his daughter Emily Benson (Andrew), and his three sisters; Cindi Benson Bey (Doug), Nancy McLemore (Mark), and Jodi Murphy (Steve). Mark is also survived by his Aunt Joan, his Aunt Patsy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mark found joy in writing and playing music, reading, and collecting comic books, cheering for the LA Rams and U of O Ducks, and most of all spending time with his friends and family.

Although Mark is no longer with us, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift everyone who knew him.

A memoria lservice will be held at Memory Gardens in Medford on August 15th at 11:00 AM.
