Lela Ann Wines

Our beloved mother, Lela Ann Wines, passed away in her home in Jacksonville, Oregon, on January 28th - with brownies baking in the oven for her family. Mom was a devoted wife to Elwin, her husband of almost 60 years, and loving mother to her three children and seven grandchildren. We learned so much from her quiet strength, her loving ways, her ready smile, and her strong commitment to God and family. She will be deeply missed.

Lela was born in Illinois on September, Friday the 13th, and always considered Friday the 13th as lucky. She was the daughter of Forrest and Francis Huffaker, whom she lost to tragic accidents while still a child, and the third of eight children. She worked her own way through nurses training and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. She and her preacher/evangelist husband lived in various locations around the Midwest, continuing her nursing career wherever they lived. She took great pride in having helped to save the youngest premature baby that had ever survived up to that time. They came to Oregon in 1968, finally settling into her current home in 1972.

Lela is preceded in death by her husband, Elwin, her oldest son, Forrest, and all of her seven siblings. She is survived by her children Stan and Marian, and grandchildren Ariel, Kale, Eleah, Acacia, Linnae, Tiel, and Benjamin.

Her memorial service will be held Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. - Ruch Community Bible Church, 190 Upper Applegate Rd. Reception following.
