Lawrence George Dechant

Lawrence G. DeChant, 74, passed away May 14, 2017 at his home in Medford, Oregon. Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school in North Royalton, Ohio where he was born and raised. He served on both diesel and nuclear submarines until he retired after 10 years of service. In 1970 he married Janice Wicks in San Diego, California where he was stationed. He worked several years as an insurance investigator and in real estate sales in the San Diego area. He then applied for a position with the U.S. Government Foreign Service. He and his wife were stationed overseas in various third-world countries until he retired in early 1993 at age 50.

He is survived by his wife, Janice and a daughter from a previous marriage, Audra Smullen.

No public service will be held. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Quilts of Valor via his wife, Janice. He will be interred at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
