Kenneth Ray Schoening

September 30, 1957 — April 29, 2016

Kenneth Ray Schoening was born on Sept 30th 1957 in Port of Whittier, Alaska two years before it became a state to Jackie and Normand Schoening. He passed on April 29, 2016.

Growing up in an Army family, Kenneth attended schools in several states and Germany. He graduated from High School in McMinnville, OR and was active in Jazz band and the Twilighters singing group.

Kenneth enlisted in the Army in June 1975 and was stationed at Ft. Riley, Ft. Lewis and Germany during his service. While at Ft. Riley he married Sherri Collins and together they had three children; Jeromy, Brian and Jaclyn.

Kenneth's military specialty was artillery and this training helped him acquire a job as a surveyor in Kansas. He moved back to Oregon and worked as a surveyor for Oregon State Parks. His next position was at David Evans and Associates, Inc. in 1996, overseeing repairs and enlarging airports in Oregon and Moses Lake, Wash. When the airport services broke off from David Evans, Ken became a partner with Precision Approach Engineering.

Kenneth married Dianna McMurray in 1997 and added Tom and Steve to his family. His favorite pastimes were hiking, gardening, hunting and fishing. His many grandchildren brought him joy and he loved spending time with them.

Ken is preceded in death by his dad Normand. He is survived by his wife Dianna; his mother Jackie Williams; his children Jeromy, Brian, Jaclyn, Tom and Steve; his brothers and sisters Cheryl, Carol, Norm, Paul and Mark; and his grandchildren Nathan, LoriBeth, Amber, Ashlee, Damion, TayDon, Keith, Gkobi, Ania, Storie, Tyler, Katelyn, Ryan, Nathan, Brina, and Bridgett.

In lieu of flowers Dianna asks that you consider making a donation to a Veteran's charity such as Disabled American Veterans, USO or the Wounded Warrior Project.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, May 9 at Memory Gardens. There will be a gathering after at the KC97 Fuel Tanker at the Medford airport. Memory Gardens Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
