John 'Dick' Weber, 81, of Phoenix, Ore. passed away August 4, 2015. He was born November 30, 1933 in Great Falls, Mont. to Jack and Emily Weber.
Dick graduated from Medford High School and soon after volunteered for the draft. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an Athletic Recreation Sergeant on his home base.
On December 31, 1973 he married JoAnn Robertson in Reno, Nev. and quickly assumed the role of step-daddy to Jenny. Dick and Joann celebrated 41 years of marriage living in the same house before recently moving to Phoenix, Ore.
He spent 18+ years in the Medford Fire Department including a position as Battalion Chief. During his "off" time he was very active and athletic, participating in the Mt. Ashland Ski patrol for over 12 years as well as many other sports, dragging Jenny to every one of them.
After his heart condition forced an early retirement, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He served as Marshall on several golf courses here in the valley. He also never missed a volleyball tournament of his granddaughters'.
Dick is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Jennifer Morris; and two grandchildren, Emily and Elise. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Nonie.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Memory Gardens.
