Jerad Glenn Jones was born on July 27, 1983, to parents Jeffery Glenn and Janice Sue Jones (Ainsworth) in Beaumont, Texas. Jerad grew up alongside his sister Krysta and brother Micha in Southeast Texas where he graduated from Vidor High School in 2002. He attended college at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he studied film.
After College, Jerad became a chef and culinary inspiration to many. Jerad fell in love with cooking while working for a disaster relief kitchen in Texas after Hurricane Ike. He quickly worked his way up through the industry and became the Head Chef of several successful kitchens across the United States and Central America.
His journey through life led him to spend time living in Big Sky, Montana; Austin, Texas; Bandera, Texas; Nacogdoches, Texas; Healy, Alaska; Kansas City, Kansas; New Orleans, LA and Little Corn Island, Nicaragua. Eventually, Jerad settled in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Jerad's interests were too many to count. Jerad played football as a young boy up through high school. He enjoyed it as much on the field as he did off the field and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan his whole life. If he wasn't watching football, he was exploring the wilderness listening to his favorite music or podcasts and always looking for the next beautiful place to camp. His professional skills often crossed into his personal life. Jerad loved to take care of his friends and family by preparing amazing elaborate meals for any occasion. Wherever Jerad was, if it was the right time of the year and he was close enough to the right mountain, you could find him flying down the slopes on his snowboard.
On May 8th, 2023, Jerad passed away in Central Point, Oregon. He is survived by his love Rhiannah Gatti, parents Jeffery and Sue Jones, sister Krysta Wheeler, brother Micha Jones, brother-in-law Clay Wheeler, niece Emery, nephew Karson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. A Celebration of Life will be held in Montgomery, TX at Lone Star Cowboy Church on June 10th at 2 PM with a reception to follow.
We recently lost our son, Jerad. He was an avid reader his entire life, always had a book nearby. He also studied film at University of Colorado. In lieu of flowers we are wanting to ask for donations for books or even videos to be donated to your library. He was crazy about Karson and Emery so we thought this to be perfect. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Montgomery Independent School District Library by following the link:
