Frances Natalie Doody

December 22, 1928 - October 11, 2016

Frances "Cookie" Doody, 87, passed away October 11, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born December 22, 1928 the youngest of eight children to Luka and Marguerite Zankich in Astoria, Ore.

Frances graduated Astoria High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, Wilfred "Buzz" Doody in Astoria. Buzz and Cookie moved to Medford in 1954 with their children. Frances worked for the Jackson County Clerks Office and the U.S. Forest Service. She enjoyed RV camping at Harbor, Ore., mountain lakes, and Desert Hot Springs, Calif. with family and friends. Working in her flower beds, clam digging, knitting, bingo, card games, and cribbage were things she enjoyed.

Frances "Cookie" is survived by her children, Barbara (Dale) Morrison, Mike Doody, Sue (Mike) Beardsley, and Rick (Mary) Doody; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her friend and companion for 17 years, Ken Heino. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buzz in 1986; her parents; and all of her siblings, two brothers, Swede and Luke and five sisters, Ursa, Margie, Florence, Georgia, and Lillian.

A private family service is planned. Frances will be laid to rest beside her husband at Memory Gardens, Medford, Ore. A celebration of life open house will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Clubhouse at Oak Valley 55-plus Community, Talent, Ore. Arrangements are by Memory Gardens Memorial Park & Mortuary.
