It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Gary McTevia on July 21, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Gary was born on July 16, 1947, in Glendale, California. At the age of 13, he and his family moved to Oregon, where he would reside for the rest of his life. He attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1966.
In his early years, Gary worked at Kim’s Restaurant, Minute Market, and Madrona Dairy. He later built a successful career as the owner of McTevia Painting and worked for many years as a self-employed painting and building contractor.
On February 2, 1985, Gary married Becky Maddox, and together they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children: Rob (Silvia) of Jacksonville, OR; Brian (JoAnna) of Denver, CO; Natasha of Jacksonville, OR; and Nathanael of Medford, OR. Gary was also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Andrew, Eddie, Gabriella, Amara, and Eliya.
Gary loved his family deeply, as well as his two dogs, Rudy and Ellie. He had a passion for politics, geography, fly fishing, and, most of all, golf. Oh, how he loved golf! He was also a man of faith who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all his heart.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Naoma McTevia, and his eldest brother, Marvin. He is survived by his youngest brother, Art McTevia, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Gary was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to many. His absence leaves a tremendous void, and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Relevant Church, 520 N 5th St, Jacksonville, OR. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Gary’s memory through donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Medford Gospel Mission.
