A Cherished Life Remembered It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Ann (Darby) Lavender, who left us at the age of 78. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and giving nature touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Carol was born May 6, 1946, in Medford, Oregon, to Marvin Lindbergh Darby and Shirley Mitchell (Darby) Gardner. There she grew up with her sister, Holly. She often spoke fondly of her time spent there with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. After marrying in 1964, she followed her husband, Anthony Glenister Lavender (the father of her three children) on many adventures across the Western United States, growing her family and making friends. She was a devoted mother to sons Brian and Nick and daughter Heather. In her later years, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Chris, who “hung the moon” for her, ensuring she felt cherished, cared for, and loved every day.
Her three grandsons, Gabriel, Michael and Raphael, were the joy of her life. Carol delighted in following their athletic endeavors and extracurricular activities, always their biggest supporter and cheerleader. Her pride in their achievements was boundless, and her love for them unwavering. While she was not in good enough health to physically attend games in the end, she never missed watching events recorded or live streamed. And she went “beast mode” for them when things did not go their way.
God called her home during the evening hours of February 9, 2025 - Super Bowl Sunday - while her daughter held her hand. Those who knew her will recognize how fitting this was, as she was an intense football fan. Carol will be remembered for her generous spirit, her dedication to her family, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
May Jesus hold her in His loving embrace
