Cherished by her loving husband, Virgil, of 65 years, Betty Sue Lipscomb passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2026. Betty was known for her beauty, grace, and fiery personality. She enjoyed literature, music, photography, and entertaining friends and loved ones.
Born March 9th, 1944 to Viola and Willie Towe, Betty married her devoted husband Virgil Lipscomb at the age of 15. Together, they built a remarkable life as she supported him through his career as an electrical engineer. Betty also pursued her own successful career, working as a technical editor at Singer Link in upstate New York. Later in life, she worked as a funding manager at Eloan, where she led a dedicated team, bringing the same grace and determination to her professional life that she brought to everything she touched.
Betty was an influential presence to her children and grandchildren, instilling in them her love of literature, her fierce independence and her tenacious pursuit of knowledge. She is survived by her devoted husband Virgil, her daughter Cynthia, three granddaughters Jennifer, Jessica, and Kacie, and three great-grandchildren Kayden, Landon, and Marshal. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael.
Of all her life’s endeavors, her marriage to Virgil remains her most enduring legacy of true love.
