Bernice Foster Spahr was born November 1930 in Shelton Idaho to Claxton and Lorena Foster. She was raised in Clark Idaho and graduated from Rigby High School in 1949. After high school she attended a semester of college at Ricks College before moving to Pocatello and work at Westveco.
While living in Pocatello she attended the Golden Gleaners at church. At a activity in the summer of 1953 she met Glen Spahr, a recent return missionary. After a summer of dating they were married Nov 25, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
They lived in several towns in Eastern Idaho before moving to Butte Falls Oregon in 1965. They built a house in Shady Cove and the sold it and moved to Jacksonville in 1974.
Bernice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint. She loved serving wherever she was called. From pianist to youth leader to Relief Society President you could find her involved. Some of her fondest service came from serving in the Temple. For several years she and several friends drove to Portland to serve for 3 days. In 2000 she was able to serve in the Medford Temple.
One thing Bernice will be remembered for is her pies. Especially her lemon meringue. Plus her bread and maple bars. For years she would take time to send out birthday cards to her friends and family. She loved to do count cross stitch and many people have one of her count cross stitch temples in their homes.
Bernice has been widowed for 35 years. She lived on her own until 3 years ago when she moved in with Larry and Julie. She loved being around her grandchildren and the last few years her great grandchild brightened her day.
After a fall by the side of her on September 3rd she never was the same. On Monday September 12 she passed away with Ranae and Alan by she side.
She is survived by Julie (Larry) Doll, Ranae (Russ) Hill, Alan (Teresa), Betty Reynolds, Sally Roberts, daughter-in-law Jolie Spahr. She has 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, with one born 3 hours after her death and 3 more due in the next month.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Glen, son David, twin daughters Jane & Rebecca, granddaughter Bailey, son-in-laws Scott Reynolds and Shane Roberts. Her parent Clax and Lorena, siblings Ronald, Dewain, Kent, Gary, and Sharon.
