Barbara Ann Zimmerman

Barbara Zimmerman, of Grants Pass, passed away peacefully at home, on June 23, 2016. Barbara was born October 18, 1959, in Roseburg, Oregon, to William and Beatrice Zimmerman. She lived at home until the age of 8, and then resided at Fairview until the age of 16, when she moved back to Roseburg where she graduated from Roseburg High School. After graduation, Barbara went to work at Sunrise Enterprises, where she worked for 31 years. She moved to Grants Pass in 2008, and worked at SO Aspire, until her retirement in 2014.
Barbara was very active in church, and was baptized after expressing her belief in, and love of Jesus Christ. She loved to sing and always requested "Amazing Grace" be sung.
Barbara was very active in Special Olympics from age 16, until age 55. She took part in bowling, basketball, track and field, winning the sportsmanship award for the regional Special Olympics in 1982.
Family and friends were hugely important to Barbara. She never met a stranger, so everyone was "family". She will be remembered for her love and caring for others, her sense of humor, love of music, and her love of life.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Wanda Falcone. She is survived by her siblings Karen (Val) Brinkerhoff, William (Mary) Zimmerman, Susan (Greg) Moses, and very numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially acknowledge her extended family, Dale and JoVanna Delange and their children Keanu and Lorelai, for their selfless and loving care of Barbara over the last and more difficult years. Thank you also to Lovejoy Hospice for their support, and to Southern Oregon Aspires' work staff and ATE staff for their loving support.
