Marion James "Shorty" Miller, 83, of White City, OR. passed on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, OR. He was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Cushing, OK. to Edgar & Virginia(Perryman) Miller. In 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. he married Arlene O. Hatch who survives. Shorty & Arlene came to southern Oregon from the Happy Camp,CA. area 37 years ago where he worked in the woods logging in the summers and the sawmills in the winters. He worked here for KOGAP Lbr Co. from 1971 until retiring in 1988. He was in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Shorty & Arlene were members of Trinity Baptist church in White City, OR. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Arlene, three sons Danny Earl Miller of Shingletown, CA., Michael Lee Miller of Fairfield, CA., and Kenneth Lyle Miller of Brookings, OR., a brother Edward Miller of Medford, OR., five grandchildren; Stacey Yates, Ryan Miller, Tony Miller, Julie Caton, Steven Miller, six great grandchildren; Mitchell Yates, Ella Yates, Faith Miller, Mason Miller, Gabriel Miller and Kealdra Caton. Memorial contributions are suggested to Access Inc., 3630 Aviation Way, Medford, OR 97504. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Memory Gardens Chapel with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
